BFR _ black forest retreat
|Locaction:||Black Forest, Germany|
Contemporary rooftop expansion for a roughly 400-year-old black-forest house near Titisee. The iconic and historic parts of the house are preserved by introducing contemporary elements as separate layer. This new stratification creates a dialogue with the existing structure and highlights important aspects of it by exposing it carefully. An old stone quarry wall for example was unveiled and most of the available wood was refurbished and reused for this project. Thus, the design not only creates a unique atmosphere, but also saves resources.
